After returning to Aswan I took a two-day felucca cruise down the Nile to Kom Ombo. The river water provides enough irrigation to create a thin strip of green on either bank but little else. Beyond that the desert stretches for miles and miles. Fourteen tourists on such a small craft was quite uncomfortable but it was nothing compared to the mosquitoes eating us alive at night. People were sleeping (or trying to sleep) with towels wrapped around their heads and faces with just a nose hole for breathing. A truly international group with people from the USA, Australia, France, Spain, Morocco, Korea, China, Colombia and of course me representing the Czech Republic.
