It is sort of funny, but baboons were believed to worship the sun god, Ra, because they were often seen at sunrise facing the dawning of a new day. They hold a prominent place in this room in Edfu and are also on base of one of the monumental statues at the gate of Luxor Temple. The other wall depicts the jackal-headed god, Anubis.
